Aug. 18 Arenacross tickets go on sale

Tickets for the Tex New Mex Arenacross Series Aug. 18 at the Curry County Fairgrounds are on sale at Clovis Cycle and RV, High Desert Honda and the Curry County Fairgrounds.

Ticket prices at the gate are $15 for adult, $10 for Children 12 – 3 yrs., and under 3 is free. Save $1 on an advance ticket purchase.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Police: Teen target of kidnap attempt

A man attempted to grab a 14-year-old girl and force her into his vehicle Thursday, according to police reports.

The girl told police she was walking to a friend’s house in the area of Fairway Terrace when a black male grabbed her arm and tried to pull her in the car, the report said.

With the help of a male passerby, she got away, the report said.

The suspect was described as a a black male approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and driving an older model black Honda Civic with dark tinted windows, the report said.

Woman tells cops of threat with gun

A Clovis woman told police a man threatened her with a gun Wednesday when she wouldn’t help him find narcotics, according to a police report.

The 33-year-old victim told police she was walking to her apartment around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of Thornton when a man in a SUV pulled up and asked her about getting drugs, the report said.

She told him she did not use drugs or know where to get them, the report said. The woman said the man began yelling and cursing at her and pointed a black handgun at her.

She told the officer there were several females in the white SUV with the man.

Burglary charges filed on Clovis man

A man who told police he took items from a Clovis home because the occupants owed him money is in jail on charges of burglary, aggravated assault and larceny, according to police reports.

Herman Eylicio, 31, was arrested July 29 and is being held without bond because of probation violations, jail officials said.

A woman told officers Eylicio came into her home in the 1000 block of Sheldon Street and stole items belonging to her son, the report said. Eylicio also tried to stab the woman’s brother when he confronted the suspect outside the house.

Eylicio told police he had loaned the family bond money. They hadn’t paid him back, so he was taking the items as payment, the report said.
