Summer reading continues

The summer reading program at the Clovis-Carver Public Library has reached the halfway point and is a rousing success, according to organizer Krissie Carter.

“It’s been going wonderfully,” Carter said of the two-month program that concludes at the end of July.

Thursday’s children’s programs have been drawing crowds of around 100 children and parents, she said, with other daily programs averaging between five and 25.

The program offers free daily activities to children in varying age groups along with reading support and incentives.

The schedule for the remainder of July:

10 a.m. Tuesday, south lawn — Hippie Day, Teens, Tweens & Big Kids. Bring a T-shirt, pillowcase, socks, white bandana, etc. to tie-dye.

Wednesday — Closed for Fourth of July

10 a.m. Thursday, Ingram room — Children’s program. Travis Erwin will entertain with stories and songs.

1 p.m. Friday, craft room — Movie day. Watch “Night at the Museum” and have popcorn. Rated PG, one hour and 50 minutes.

10 a.m. July 17, North Annex — Teens and tweens magic class. Learn a trick or two.

1 p.m. July 17, North Annex — Magician Jamie O’Hara performs.

1 p.m. July 20, craft room — Movie day. Watch “Open Season” and have popcorn. Rated PG, One hour and 25 minutes.

10 a.m. July 26 — Wrap-up party. The last program of the Summer Reading Program and will have games and ice cream.
