Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Fund-raising efforts are already under way for redevelopment of the Hotel Clovis.
“We want the public to realize there is a possible project out there and to garner their support,” Clovis MainStreet Executive Director Robyne Beaubien said of the plan developed by Jonathan Reed and Associates to convert the hotel into housing units.
Beaubien said charitable donations can be made to “Operation Save Hotel Clovis” at Clovis MainStreet, 215 North Main St., Clovis, NM 88101. Donations are tax-deductible and a receipt will be mailed to donors, she said.
Mayor David Lansford will host the Mayor’s Holiday Ball on Nov. 16 at the Clovis Civic Center with proceeds to benefit Hotel Clovis. Tickets are $100 a plate, according to Claire Burroughes, the city’s community relations director.
Lansford said he is supporting the revitalization efforts because of the hotel’s importance to the health of the downtown.
“Downtown Clovis is a treasure that has a lot of potential,” Lansford said. Its redevelopment will “catalyze the downtown,” he said, while its current state is an encumbrance.
“I am going to be an advocate,” the mayor said.
