Cameron stretched Eastern New Mexico University’s losing streak to nine games, beating the Greyhounds 18-12 and a 7-6 loss Saturday in a Lone Star Conference Crossover doubleheader at McCord Field.
After being down 4-0 in the first game, Cameron (11-10) exploded for 11 runs in the second inning on seven singles and a three-run double by junior Bryan Nichols.
Evan Courteau went 1 2/3 innings, and gave up 11 earned and two walks.
Sophomore Clayton Young slapped a two-run double in the top of third helping the Hounds (10-14) pull within 11-8, and in the top of the fifth junior Tyler Hayes’ RBI single and Troy Vaughn’s sacrifice fly pulled the Hounds within one.
But that was as close as the Hounds would get.
In the second game, the Hounds held a 5-3 advantage in the top of the sixth when freshman Matthew Chavez drove an RBI single to center field.
On the bottom of the sixth, Jorey Price knotted the game with a two-run single up the middle, and senior Brooks Pollard drilled a two-run double to right for an 7-5 Aggies’ lead.
Hayes scored on a throwing error by Cameron’s third baseman for 7-6 score, but the Hounds couldn’t generate any more runs.
