Crash lands Floyd students in hospital

A two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning sent two Floyd School students and a Portales resident to the hospital, according to state police.

The female students, 13 and 16 years old, were listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday afternoon at a Lubbock hospital, according to state police.

The 16-year-old student was driving a mini-van westbound on N.M. 467 when she tried to pass a semi-truck trying to turn onto Roosevelt Road Y, according to New Mexico State Police Sgt. Stephen Mulkey.

The driver of the semi-truck, Gary Sisneros, was treated and released from Roosevelt General Hospital, according to Mulkey. The students were transported to Roosevelt General before being airlifted to Lubbock, Mulkey said.

Mulkey and Floyd school officials declined to release the names of the students.
