Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 11 p.m. Monday police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Fifth Street for a call of a subject with a gun. A woman told police a man had been standing outside her home when she arrived and pulled a gun from his waistband and she ran inside. The boyfriend said he chased the man who got in a car and drove away. There are no suspects. The case is under investigation.
Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of East Second Street in reference to fraud. The owner said a fake $100 bill had been received the week before. In an attempt to spend it at another business, the owner said the clerk performed an ink test on it and refused to accept it. The officer collected the bill as evidence. There are no suspects.
About 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a home in the 200 block of East Fifth Street for a report of harassment. A woman told police her neighbor had left a threatening note on her car after she called police when he made a lot of noise, waking her up. The officer collected the note, noting it contained racial slurs, derogatory comments against police and asked, “Does Vietnam mean anything to you?” The case is under investigation.
Around 8 p.m. Tuesday an officer responded to the hospital for a battery report. A pregnant woman told the officer she had been hit in the eye and stepped on in the stomach by an unknown woman. The woman told the officer she did not want to pursue charges. The case is listed as inactive.
