Portales Police Department officers were called to a report of shots fired shortly before 5 p.m. Friday at the Milk Transport Services yard on Industrial Drive in Portales.
According to Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry, two people were arrested and a weapon was recovered in an altercation at the site.
Berry said police had towed a vehicle to the police station and were still in the process of searching the vehicle after obtaining a search warrant as of 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Berry did not release the names of the two people arrested, pending the outcome of the search, and said no charges had been filed at that time.
Reports indicated shots were fired in the altercation but no one was injured by a bullet, according to Berry, who said there were some minor injuries involved.
