Ethelva Mae Byous, 88, of Clovis died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare.
She was born April 30, 1918, in Fort Klamath, Ore., to Raymond and Wileska Loosley. She was a registered nurse and served in the Army Nurses Corp. at the beginning of World War II. She was also a school nurse in Eunice. She served as a missionary in Taiwan and Korea for five years after retiring. She was a longtime resident of Clovis and a member of Sandia Baptist Church and the Gideon’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, former Clovis school superintendent Lawrence Byous, in 1995; and a daughter, Janet Moran.
She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Ellison (and husband, Melvin) of Orange, Texas; a son, Stewart Byous of Gallup; a son-in-law, David Moran of Wimberly, Texas; six grandchildren, Lawrence B. and Christopher Ellison, Alysyn, Nik and Graeme Byous, and Susan Nutter; and five great-grandchildren
Herbert Bergstrom will officiate services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Bob Pemberton, Roy Woodard, Wayne Camp, T.J. Watson, Jim Roller and Bill Reed.
Honorary pallbearers are all her friends in the Gideon’s.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Gideon’s.
