William Edward Hill

William Edward Hill, 84, of Jal, Texas, and formerly of Portales, died Friday, May 26, 2006, in Winkler Memorial Hospital in Kermit, Texas.
He was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Bowie County, Texas, to Charlie and Effie Hill. He moved from Portales to Jal in 1949. He was a member of the Jal Volunteer Fire Department and the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Charlie and Effie Hill; wife, Lena Mae Hill; mother-in-law, Mae Denny; three brothers, Charley Hill, Melbin Sim Hill and Hardy Hill; and a sister, Mary Peterson.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Hill of Kermit, Texas, and Eddie Hill of Jal; a daughter, Joy Hill of Jal; a sister, Ruth Gibbs of Clovis; two brothers, A.C. Hill and Uncle Pug Hill, both of Portales; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Calvery Funeral Home in Eunice.
Hugo Medrano Ochoa
Services: Have been held.
Hugo Medrano Ochoa, 32, of Las Angeles, Calif., died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in Clovis.
Survivors include his parents, Manuel and Silvia Ochoa; two sisters, Consuelo and Karina Ochoa; nephews, Alex and Silvia Ochoa, all of Duarte, Calif; a fiancee, Sandra C. Valdez of Clovis; two sons, Hugo E. Ochoa of Clovis and Manuel Ochoa of California; a daughter, Angelica Ochoa of California.
Burial will take place in California.
Arrangements are by Garcia’s Mortuary of Albuquerque.
Roma “Jean” Royse
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Roma “Jean” Royse, 75, of Clovis, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 27, 1930, to Beauford A. and Eva Butler Bailey in North Hollywood, Calif. She married William J. Royse on April 8, 1950, in San Fernando Valley, Calif. She was retired from Farmer's Insurance Group, where she worked as a supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie McCormick of Clovis, Pat Gallus of Whitby Island, Wash., and Debbie Brown of Lebanon, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Bill Doran, Shanna Brent, Chad Hopkins, Debra Nutt, Cassie, John and Steven Haskins; and a brother, Bud Bailey of Chicago, Ill.
The Rev. Wayne Salguero is officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or charity of choice.

Bertha “Teddy” Spears
Services: 1:30 p.m. today at Texico Cemetery.
Bertha “Teddy” Spears, 74, of Texico died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at her home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
She came to the United States in May 1956. She married Bob Spears in January 1964. She cooked for the “Spears Deeres Harvest Crew” for 38 years. Family members said she enjoyed golfing and bowling, but coffee drinking was her favorite hobby.
She is survived by her husband; a brother-in-law, Bud Spears of Texico; a sister-in-law, Betty Broadhurst (and husband, J.R.) of Bastrop, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Sam Kelley will officiate.
Burial is at Texico Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are all friends.
