Clovis Chamber honored by commerce association

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce has received the New Mexico Chamber of the Year Award by the Association of Commerce and Industry of New Mexico and the New Mexico Business Journal, according to a news release from the local Chamber.

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber was recognized for several initiatives, according to the release. They included its extraordinary effort with the Operation Keep Cannon campaign and the marketing partnership with the Clovis Civic Center as well as the Clovis Music Festival and the High Plains Junior Rodeo Finals that increased tourism, the additional membership benefits such as the Lunch & Learn Brown Bag Seminars and the increase of 137 new chamber members in one year, Rhonda Bargman, 2006 Chamber president, reported in the release.

Bargman and Ernie Kos, the Chamber’s executive director, accepted the award Thursday at the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce Executives Association spring banquet in Los Lunas.

It was the second time the local Chamber received the state recognition, according to the news release. The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce received the annual state award in 2002.
