Two Portales residents injured in wreck near state line Thursday

A two-vehicle collision Thursday morning on N.M. 202 near milepost 9 sent a man to Roosevelt General Hospital and a woman to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, according to Portales Fire Department Batallion Chief Mickey Hargrove.

Hargrove said he had no word on the conditions of the two individuals. He said the man was driving in a vehicle that struck the rear of a vehicle driven by the woman. There were no other passengers.

Both drivers were eastbound. New Mexico State Police officials said the accident occurred about 10:49 a.m. but officers who responded to the accident scene were not available for comment and no reports were available.

Hargrove said the man and the woman each reported being residents of Portales.
