FFA competes locally

Instructor Eric Greer’s FFA judging teams competed Wednesday in dairy foods and livestock judging at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds. Team members for dairy foods are Tanner Ainsworth, Tony Mendoza, Stephen Phillips, Jonathan Meza, and Damian Lozano. Johanna Levacy, Molly Legler, and Taylor Tallent comprise the livestock team. Three members of the Dairy Foods team will compete at the state judging in Las Cruces Wednesday. They are Ainsworth, Mendoza, and Phillips.

Choir schedules performances

April 13 Franklin Smith’s choirs present a concert at PHS Performing Arts Center. April 19 the Honor and Mixed Choirs will travel to Hobbs for the district choir competition.

Spring break begins

Students dismissed at 3:05 Friday to begin a week of spring break.

Report card and meeting date set

Parents may pick up their childrens’ report cards April 7. The school will be open for parents 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:30-6 p.m. By closing for a lunch break from 1:30 until 2:30, teachers may visit their own childrens’ schools and be available to meet with parents the rest of the time.

Track season opens

Team members missed their practice track meet because of bad weather last week. Coaches expect the team to practice and stay in shape over spring break. They are having optional practices for teams during the break. Their first meet will be in Texico April 4.
