Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

At an unspecified time on Saturday, police responded to a call about a store on the 700 block of Thornton Street and arrested a Clovis man, 19, for writing worthless checks. The checks for more than $200 were written from the man’s closed local bank account.

At 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a call about the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to battery of a maintenance worker by a housekeeper at a hospital. The Clovis man, 27, told police the female housekeeper, 24, accused him of taking an unidentified item, yelled a profanity at him, put him in a head lock and slapped him. Police noticed redness to the man’s face, and advised him on how to file a complaint at magistrate court.

Around noon on Tuesday, police responded to a call about a trailer home on the 200 block of Maple Street in reference to a battery. Police arrested a male electric worker, 28, for battering his girlfriend, 34, and her daughter, 10. The woman had scratches and abrasions on her neck, and the daughter had sustained a scratch during the scuffle between her mom and her mother’s boyfriend. The man was arrested and booked at the Curry County Adult Detention Center for battery on a household member and child abuse, the report said.
