3/12 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

At 11:36 p.m. on Tuesday, police went to a business in the 900 block of Prince Street in reference to possible criminal damage to the business’s front glass window. Police found the window broken, but couldn’t determine how it became that way, the report said. The owner told police a pellet had been shot at the window before, and the stress from the hole could have caused the window to give way, the report said. Damage was valued at $500, and the case is active, pending further information, the report said.

At 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Prince and 14th Streets. The driver of the first vehicle said he intended to turn north on Prince after exiting a convenience store in the 1300 block. He said he misjudged how far away the second vehicle was, which was traveling south on Prince. The driver of the second vehicle told police that he was unable to avoid hitting the first vehicle after its driver pulled out in front of him. Police cited the driver of the first vehicle for failing to yield from a private drive.

The caller told police the back of the home, which is for sale, was spray-painted between Feb. 28 and Tuesday. Police found that the back of the house, garage and fence had been spray-painted numerous times with the words “Westside, BP, BK, Arthur, Michael P. and Southside 13.” The owner also told police lightbulbs were taken from motion detector lights on the back porch. At an undisclosed time on Friday, Feb. 10, police responded to a call from the manager of a grocery store on the 100 block of 14th Street in response to a fraud report. The manager told police a check for $480 was cashed from a closed bank account on Jan. 20, belonging to someone other than the individual who wrote it. The check was stolen during an auto burglary, the report said, which was filed on Friday. The manager gave police a picture of a 20-year-old male cashing the check, and the male was arrested on Feb. 23, detailed in another report, according to the report.
