Donna Jean Wood Hamilton-Martin

Donna Jean Wood Hamilton-Martin died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, in Las Cruces.

She was born Oct. 21, 1955, in Portales to Morris and Doris Wood. She graduated from Portales High School and received her Master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in elementary education. She taught school for two years in Globe, Ariz., two years in Lovington and Portales and 20 years at White Mountain Elementary in Ruidoso.

Family members said she loved teaching her children and her yard brought her many hours of enjoyment.

She married Charles Hamilton in 1982. Following a divorce, she married Scott Martin in 2005.

She is survived by her husband; parents; a sister, Danna Thompson of Ruidoso; a nephew, Tyrus Hull of Albuquerque; two nieces, Amber Lynn Thompson and Tiffiny Ann Thompson both of Ruidoso.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.

The family has requested memorials be made to the Humane Society of Lincoln County or the Disabled Veterans Association.
