Eduardo B. Trujillo, 90, of De Baca County, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was born March 25, 1915, in Santa Rosa to Abel Casaus Trujillo and the former Petrita Bazan. He was raised on the family ranch at Guadalupe, west of Fort Sumner.
He attended school at Guadalupe. He served as a private first class in the U.S. Army from Jan. 25, 1941, until his honorable discharge Nov. 28, 1944. He participated in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns and was wounded on Nov. 20, 1943, in the Ceprigna Sector, Italy. His decorations and service medals include the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, EAME and American Defense Service Ribbons and two Battle Stars.
He returned to the family ranch at Guadalupe where he continued the day-to-day operation of the ranch until his death.
He was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner; a third-degree member of Knight of Columbus Council 8331 in Fort Sumner; and a fourth-degree member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Council in Santa Rosa; a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Family members said he read extensively, including the New York Times, and was a staunch Democrat.
He is survived by a sister, Julia Sena (and husband, Lucas) of Albuquerque; a nephew, Dennis Sena (Natalia) of San Antonio; three nieces, Sylvia Gonzales (Mario) of Albuquerque; Anita Little (Kerry Lee) of Oklahoma City; and Kathy Horcasitas of Albuquerque; a cousin, Joe B. Olona (Dolores) of Albuquerque and many other relatives.
Father Richard Olona will officiate services.
Burial is at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Allen Dunn, Billy Wertheim, Mario Trujillo, Donald Olona, Michael and Richard Casaus.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
