Rosa Chavez, 74, of Clovis died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 30, 1931, in Santa Rosa to Sotero and Louisa Valencia Chavez. She married Cristobal Chavez on Nov. 4, 1950, in Santa Rosa. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Family members said she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to make quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; and a sister, Christine Baca
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Ralph Chavez (and wife, Joy) and Chris Chavez (Sharon), all of Clovis; three daughters, Sophia Russ (Eldon), Sylvia Mondragon and Veronica Kathy Chavez, all of Clovis; five brothers, Mike, Ricky, Sotero Jr., Horacio and Tony Chavez, all of Clovis; seven sisters, Dora Baca, Gloria Chavez, Elena Zamora, all of Clovis, Priscilla Maldonado of Grand Prairie, Texas, Carmen Cassidy of St. Louis, Mo., Juanita Garza of Rio Rancho and Florinda Lamvern of California; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Father Sotero Sena will officiate services.
Burial is at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Eldon T. Russ, Randy, Mario Chavez and Gary Chavez and Patricio, Jimmy, Fabian and Julio Mondragon.
The family will be at 400 Schepps Blvd.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home Clovis.
