Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
A 23-year-old Clovis man was sentenced Wednesday to 22 years in prison for kidnapping, aggravated burglary, attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm, according to a release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The charges stem from an October 2003 incident during which Marvin Holt and another defendant blocked off a car driven by a Clovis woman, hit her in the face with a gun and attempted to steal her purse, the release said.
The victim identified Holt and the other defendant, the release said.
Holt has been in custody since 2003 at the Curry County Adult Detention Center, and will serve 85 percent of his sentence through a state prison before he’s eligible for parole, the released said.
