Clifford Corbin, 78

Services: Graveside services will be held and announced later.

Mr. Clifford Eugene Corbin, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at his residence in Arch.

He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Causey to Ada Alice and Stephen A. Corbin.

He attended school in Causey and graduated in 1945. He entered the Army Air Force in March 1946 and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in August 1947. He farmed in the Arch area with his brother, Ernest Corbin.

He was married to Merle Riley on May 13, 1950, in Arch. In 1956 he worked for Prince Welding in Portales and later entered a partnership which later became Eastern Welding Supply, family members said.

In 1984 he retired and moved to Arch. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and teaching his grandchildren to hunt and fish, family members said. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking, family members said.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ernest, Melvin and Delous Corbin; and a sister, Opal Cox.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Debra Joy Crozier (and husband, Doug) of Portales, and Diana Jeene Neece (Billy) of Arch; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Corbin of Albuquerque; three sisters, Mae Howard of Sunnyvale, Calf., Velma Gardner of Rogers, and Mildred Gardner of Portales; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Corbin of Albuquerque.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Corbin’s memory be made to PRMC Hospice, 1701 S. Ave. P, Portales, NM 88130.

Robert Dunn, 81

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Portales.

Mr. Robert C. Dunn, 81, of Portales died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at the Farwell Convalescent Center.

He was born June 7, 1924, in Roby, Texas, to Ada and Walter C. Dunn

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, W.D. “Dude” Dunn, W.T. “Tam” Dunn and Louis Dunn; two sisters, Violet Harris and Julia Ruth Forgay; a stepdaughter, Ovella Estes; and by his first wife, Maurine.

He grew up in Roby, Texas. After graduating from Roby High School, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. Following his discharge he came to Portales. He married to Maurine Minnick on March 10, 1946. She died Nov. 22, 1965. He married Sue Burdine on April 28, 1967.

He worked for the New Mexico Employment Service for 31 years and retired in 1982. His hobbies included raising registered Hereford cattle, and caring for his pecan and apricot trees, family members said.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Portales. He served as a board member for the church, First National Bank and Portales Development Corp. He was a past president of the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce .

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert Dunn Jr. (and wife, Toni) of Hobbs; a step-son Delbert Burdine (Joan) of Newport, N.J.; a daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Tanner (Dave) of Clovis; six grandchildren, Shelley Brodie (Doug) of Midland, Texas, Robert Dunn III of Dallas, Jason Tanner of San Angelo, Texas, Amy Tanner of Clovis, and John Estes and Jamie Estes both of Ruidoso; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Nelva O’Dell (Digger) of Minden, La.

The Revs. Harry Riser and Larry O’Dell will officiate the services.

Burial will be at the Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bill Dalley, Web Smartnick, Vern Witten, John Atchley, David Russell and Steve Tuttle.

Honorary pallbearers are John Youngblood, Walter “Cotton” Clark, Jack Carr, Morris Wood, Paul Murphy and Gordon Hatch along with all other friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Conference Foundation, c/o First United Methodist Church in Portales.

Dolores Greathouse, 81

Services: 2 p.m. today at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales

Mrs. Ruth Dolores Strebeck Greathouse, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.

She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Newton County, Miss. She moved to Artesia and graduated from Artesia High School in 1942.

She married Frank Greathouse Jr. on June 29, 1944. They lived on the family farm in Rogers until 1988 when they moved to Portales. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1968 and was a first grade teacher at Three Way School in Maple, Texas, until she retired in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Neil Greathouse (and wife, Katherine) of Willow Park, Texas; two daughters, Cheryl Flagg (Ken) of Steam Boat Springs, Colo., and Elaine Fallis (Jerre) of Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren, Kara Staggs, Rana, Jada and Brit Greathouse, and Amanda Fallis; a great-grandchild, Mariah Staggs; a brother, C.B. (Marjorie) of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Deanne Dickson of Lubbock; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Revs. Ross Dunn and Harry Riser will officiate services. Burial will follow at the Inez Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Sidney Strebeck, Charles Strebeck, Brent Strebeck, Ronald Dickson, Kevin Dickson and Coby Dickson.

Willie Ronquillo, 72, of Texico, died Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
