Valentine “Val” Gavlik, 64, of Clovis died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at the Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born Feb. 11, 1941 to Stanislas and Marie Konior Piotrovski in Clouange, France.
She married George Gavlik Sept. 10, 1959 in Ameville, France. She worked for Poor Boys Steak House in salad preparation for 20 years and did housekeeping for many families in Clovis. She was a member of 21st Street Church of Christ and was active in their singles group.
Family members said she loved cooking and being involved with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Joseph Piotrovski.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Gavlik of Clovis, Sebil Gavlik of Fallen, Nev., David (and wife Amy) Gavlik of Columbus, Ohio and Kent (Alicia) Gavlik of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Melody (Curtis) Davis of San Antonio, Tex.; two sisters, Jeannine and Aniela Retterer of France; and nine grandchildren.
Cecil Bunch and Don Hicks will officiate.
Cremation has taken place.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Charles Henry Whitmer, 91, of Clovis and formerly of Albuquerque died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at Plains Regional Medical Center. Services will be announced by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
