Dr. Allan L. Haynes Sr., 90, of Clovis, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at his home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Morgantown, Ky., to Alonzo Lucien and Meriam H. Gillen Haynes.
He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in the southwest Pacific. He was with the Mayo Clinic and Foundation from 1946 to 1951 and received a surgical degree from the University of Minnesota Graduate School. He married Mary Virginia Bell on May 2, 1946, in Louisville, Ky. He began private practice in Clovis in 1951 and retired in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Eula, Margaret and Gladys.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Allan L. Haynes Jr. (and wife, Cathy) and Dr. Stephen H. Haynes (Debbie), all of Clovis; two daughters, Mimi Haynes of Phoenix and Kathleen Haynes-Burns (James) of Clovis; a brother, Dr. Fred Haynes (Cecilia) of Carlsbad; 11 grandchildren, Dr. Allan Louis Haynes III of Seattle, Wash., Melissa Goldschmid of Washington, D.C., Sarah Haynes of Phoenix, Adrienne Williams of Dallas, Rowdy Prather of Las Cruces, and Rachel Snyder, E. David Haynes, Katey Chapman, Cade Haynes, Mary Kate Burns, and Jay Burns, all of Clovis; and three great-grandchildren, Allison Williams, Alexandria Prather, and Rory Haynes.
A rosary is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis.
Father Carlos Chavez and Deacon Michael Rowley will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Dr. Allan L. Haynes III, E. David and Cade Haynes, Rowdy Prather, Jay Burns, Charlie Goldschmid and Randy Harris.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
