The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s 11th annual banquet on Saturday is the group’s primary fund-raiser of the year, according to member Allan Myers.
“We typically have an attendance of over 400 people at our annual event,” he said. “People from all over the country attend our banquet. ”
But due to high security at Cannon Air Force Base where the banquet is held, those numbers may fall short this year as well as their fund-raising goal.
Myers said the RMEF is a sportsman based, non-profit wildlife conservation organization. Funds raised from the annual banquet go toward wildlife habitat improvement projects — more than 200 projects in New Mexico alone totaling over $1.5 million.
He said last year the club netted about $78,000 in proceeds from the banquet. For information on the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, visit http://www.rmef.org.
