Texas homicide suspect arrested in Clovis

A Plainview, Texas, man suspected of homicide was arrested in Wednesday night in Clovis as part of a joint operation between area and federal law enforcement officers.

Justin L. Davis, 21, was arrested near 11th and Prince streets as a result of a joint surveillance operation between Clovis Police, the Region Five Drug Task Force and the United States Marshall Service, a press release from the police department showed.

Lubbock police have been searching for Davis in connection with the Dec. 21 slaying of 20-year-old Martreon Moore, according to a wanted poster from the Lubbock Police Department.

The poster showed that Lubbock police considered Davis armed and dangerous.

Clovis Police public information officer James Schoeffel said Davis was picked up as he was leaving a house, but he wasn’t sure how Texas police were able to determine Davis was in Clovis.

Davis was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center and charged with being a fugitive from justice and concealing identity charges.

He is being held without bail on the fugitive from justice charge. Jail officials said once the local charges are cleared up, he will be extradited to Lubbock.

Moore showed up on a neighbor’s porch on Dec. 21 in Lubbock, bleeding from a gun-shot wound, according to a Feb. 10 report on the KCBD Web site, a Lubbock TV station. He later died of his wounds. Davis was indicted on murder charges by a grand jury, according to the Web site.

Sgt. John Gomez of the Lubbock police said Davis was wearing a blonde wig when he was arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Davis was with Meagan Cobie Gutierrez, who was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana, according to the Clovis PD press release. She was also booked at the Curry County Adult Detention Center and later released on a $5,500 surety bond.
