Lucretia Jones, 84
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Arch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lucretia “Teresia” Jones, 84, of Arch, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at her home.
She was born on April 29, 1920, in Laurel County, Ky., to Augusta and Leonard W. Johnson.
She lived her entire childhood in a log home in Laurel County, Ky. She married George Jones. They farmed in the Arch community for about 10 years. In 1985 they moved back to Portales. She was a member of the Arch Baptist Church. Family members said she loved collecting many things including dolls, plates, stamps, and antiques and that during her lifetime she had quilted literally hundreds of quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Oscar and Granville Johnson; two sisters, Roma Pearl Johnson and Nora Clark; and by her husband, George Jones.
Survivors include a son, Roger Jones of Portales; a daughter, Janice Bales (and husband, Wesley) of Portales; five grandchildren, Deanna White (Jimmy) of Midwest City, Okla., Julienne Beevers of Portales, Nicole Frank (Hugh) of Portales, Wesley E. Bales (Kelly) of Defiance, Ohio, and Aaron Bales of Portales; four great-grandchildren, Shelli and Joshua Beevers, Riley White, and Dillon Watson; a great-great-grandchild, Shelby Ansolabehre; three sisters, Thelma Brown of Flora, Ind., Flossie Ernst of Northfork, Idaho, and Alma Hedger of Columbus, Ind.
The Rev. Tony Reynolds, Marlin Poynor and Ken Rogers will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Wesley E. and Aaron Bales, Hugh Frank, Jimmy White, Scotty Beevers, Mike Golden, Bill Walker, Stanley Harrison, and Larry Shearer.

Charles Radcliff, 78
Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Elida Cemetery.
Mr. Charles Radcliff, 78, of Elida, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1926, near Pep, to Lillie Mae and Roy L. Radcliff.
He lived his entire life in southern Roosevelt County. During World War II he was drafted into the Army and served in Europe. He saw action through Belgium and into Germany. When he returned home he began ranching. He married Lavelle Chapman in Oct. of 1948. They were later divorced. Family members said he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren as they participated in rodeos and in various sports, and especially loved horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leon.
Survivors include a son, Monte Radcliff (and wife, Lesia) of Dora; a daughter, Varda Jones of Belen; five grandchildren, Cole, Drake, and Dylan Radcliff and Jesse and Julie Jones; a brother, Leroy Radcliff of Elida; and a sister, Flossie Osborn of Abilene, Texas.
Leroy Thomas will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Elida Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Drake, Dylan, Jessie, and Cole Radcliff, Benny Taylor, and Gary Carter.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Charles Radcliff Grandkids College Fund at either the Portales National Bank or the Clovis National Bank.

Ellis Elmer Gammill
Services: 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Ft. Sumner.
Ellis Elmer Gammill, 77 of Ft. Sumner, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
He was born on June 23, 1927, in Turkey, Texas, to Silas Luther and Icie Carrie Ellen Pickle Gammill.
He came to New Mexico at age of 12. He grew up in Ft Sumner and farmed with his family in Valley. He worked at the family dairy. He moved to Farmington where he was a police officer and volunteer fireman. He served as a fireman and fire chief for many years with the Valley fire department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.
Survivors include a brother, Glen "Sonny" Gammill of Amarillo; five sisters, Zona Hawthorne of Amarillo, Freda Inglis of Napa, Calif., Hazel Smith of Ft. Sumner, Ella Sandefer of Amarillo, and Louise Harrison of Portales.
The Rev. Coy Brewer will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Ft. Sumner Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. until services Monday at First Baptist Church in Ft. Sumner.
Pallbearers are the members of the Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
Honorary pallbearers are other members of the Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Leo W. Keith, 88
Services: Will be held in Missoula, Mont.
Mr. Leo W. Keith, 88, of Portales, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1917, to Hazel and John W. Keith.
Survivors include his wife, Golda of Portales; a step-son, Bob Putzier (Jacklyn) of Portales; and three step-grandsons, William, John and Scott Putzier.
His body has been returned to Missoula, Mont. for services.
