C.L. “Charlie” Young, 88, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born March 14, 1916 in Oklahoma.
Young was a longtime resident of Clovis. He married Hattie Fenn on Nov. 23, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He retired as an engineer from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1985 after 35 years of service. He also owned and operated Young’s TV Repair Service and built houses as a contractor. He was a well known musician in this area and played with the KICA Radio Station Band.
Survivors include a grandson, David Elledge of Edgewood, N.M.; two sisters, Jean Cowan of Carlsbad, Calif., and Lena Carter of Amarillo, Texas; a nephew, Mickey Fenn of Clovis; two great granddaughters, Heather Zimny of Portland, Ore., and Alicia Hidalgo of Albuquerque; four great-great-grandchildren, Hayley and Kyle Zimny of Portland, and Ben and Riliegh Hildago of Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice Elledge; two brothers, Mike and June Young; and a sister, Grace.
The Rev. Lemuel Perry will officiate the services.
