Maria “Toni” Antonia Clay, 85, of Clovis, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Topeka, Kan., to Donicho and Josephine Ramirez. She married Theodore Clay Sr. on Dec. 14, 1939. She was a lifelong Jehovah’s Witness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Dorothy and Kathy Clay; a son, Ted Clay Jr.; and three brothers, Raymond, Silver and Ray Ramirez.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jo Zogg (and husband, Harry Sr.) of Clovis, Ida Bauer (Lou) of Scottsbluff, Neb., Mona Shimp of Phoenix and Stella Escamilla of Grand Island, Neb.; two sons, Daniel Lee Clay (Patty) of Gering, Neb., and Mike Clay of Scottsbluff, Neb.; five brothers, Pete Ramirez of Phoenix, Jesse Ramirez of Topeka, Kan., Manuel Ramirez of Cozad, Neb., Albert and Jullian Ramirez, both of Casper, Wyo.; five sisters, Martha Quevado and Jimmy Bravo, both of Scottsbluff, Betty Contreeras of Torrington, Wyo., Lucy of Lincoln, Neb., and Lola of Topeka, Kan.; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a stepmother, Carmen Ramirez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
