Alfaro, Antonia

Antonia S. Alfaro, 67, of Muleshoe, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Lubbock.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1937, in Castolon, Texas. She married Manuel Alfaro Sr. in Mexico on Oct. 18, 1971. She has lived in Muleshoe since 1975 after moving from Amherst, Texas. She attended the Roca De Salvacion Nazareno Church in Muleshoe.

Family members said she was a loving mother and grandmother and she was also dedicated to serving God and her family. She worked as a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Alfaro; three sisters, Ruth and Cuca Salazar and Agustina Leyva.

Survivors include four sons, Manel Alfaro Jr., Juan and Oscar Alfaro, all of Muleshoe, and Jonas Alfaro of Lubbock; seven daughters, Oralia Sotelo, Olivia Barrera, Lydia Alfaro, Sonia Rejino and Nora Cruz, all of Muleshoe, Irma Marquez of Clovis and Erika Lopez of Lubbock; five step-children, Ponciano, Angelina and Esperanza Alfaro, Maria Torres and Irene Sanchez. two sisters, Petra Garcia of Fabens, Texas, and Amelia Macias of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Felipe Salazar of Homestead, Fla., Jesus Salazar of Alamogordo and Mario Salazar of Oklahoma City; 27 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Rafael Quezada will officiate the services.

Pallbearers are Jeremy, Josh, Andy, Jonas and Harvey Alfaro, Jimmy Marquez, Tommy Barrera and Bert Torres.

Honorary pallbearers are Bryant Torres, Joseph and Nathan Rejino and all her great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe.
