Mr. Art Corbin, 61, of Boles Acres, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1943, in Portales, to Lorraine and Dale Corbin. He graduated from Causey High School in 1961, and attended South Plains Junior College in Levelland for a semester on a basketball scholarship. He graduated from North American Technical Institute in Albuquerque in 1964. He returned to Portales and worked at Valley TV as a television repair technician. On Dec. 4, 1965 he married Janet Cavasos at the Second Street Church of Christ in Portales. He worked at B&B Television and later, he established Corbin TV which he owned and operated until 1976. He then moved to Hobbs and began working for Amaco and was an electronics technician. The company transferred him to Clayton in 1984. In 1987 he moved to Alamogordo and for the past 15 years he had commuted from Alamogordo to Las Cruces where he was employed at the PBS Television station in Las Cruces. He had belonged to the Toastmaster’s Club in Portales and also to the Lions Club in Boles Acres. Family members said he enjoyed hunting and gardening as well as water skiing.

He was preceded in death by of his parents.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clinton Corbin of Albuquerque, and Keith Corbin (and wife, Judy) of Lubbock; a daughter, Rena Marr of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Tyler Keith and Brooke LeAnn Corbin; and a sister, Wilma Linton of Portales.

Al Maxey will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are several of his nephews and other family members.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales.
