Mr. Richard Eric Davis, 67, of Portales, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his home in Portales.

He was born on June 12, 1937, in Elmhurst, Ill., to Helen and Lester Davis. He was reared in Bethesda, Md. where he graduated from Chevy Chase High School in 1955. He went on to attend the University of Maryland and the University of Wyoming. After he moved to Portales he also attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University. On Aug. 5, 1979, in Greeley, Colo., he married Joyce Kliewer. He was a computer salesman for Pace Setter Corporation where he was a member of the Million Dollar Club. He was a member of the North American Short Wave Association and also of the First United Methodist Church. Family members said he enjoyed traveling and especially taking cruises.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Richard Eric Davis Jr. and Robert Davis.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeanette Cecile Davis Cole (and husband, Thomas) of Irving, Texas; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and a sister, Elinor Davis Cruzan (Will) of Las Cruces.

The Rev. Harry Riser will officiate the services.

Honorary pallbearers are members the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir.

Memorial contributions may be sent to either the First United Methodist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
