Thank you letters: Movie production made a difference

Editor’s note: The Clovis News Journal will periodically publish thank-you letters of public interest. Letters should be less than 300 words and the writer must be identified. Writers should include telephone numbers and addresses for verification purposes. Letters may be edited for clarity, content and space considerations. Names of for-profit businesses may be deleted prior to publication.

This is a heartfelt letter to thank everyone who made the “Believe In Me” movie happen in Clovis. I know a tremendous amount of work on the part of our state and local leaders helped to make this a reality.

This movie had a very positive impact on our stores’ sales; mine were up 40 percent and some of my vendors tripled their sales while the movie was filming!

The movie staff stated they made a point of shopping with the locally owned, small businesses. This is one local, small-business owner who is very appreciative.

Volunteers make Oasis fishing clinic special

I recently attended a fishing clinic with my grandson at Oasis State Park. The fishing clinic was free for the kids. While it was cold, attendance was fairly good.

I wanted to thank and commend all the volunteers — Clovis Evening Lions Club, Park Rangers, RSVP group out of Portales, the individuals who prepared the free meals and especially the merchants who donated door prizes so that each kid that was registered could walk away with a prize.

My grandson Joseph was able to learn conservation, fly-fishing, fish cleaning, watercraft safety and identification of the various fish in the area. I hope more kids take advantage of this free clinic next year. My grandson is looking forward to it already and, again, thank you to all for making this special for the kids.
