Dalton Ray Porter, 58, of Midland, Texas, died on Friday, Aug. 20, 2004.

He was born on June 17, 1946, in Crowell, Texas, to Alford Pinkney Porter and Eura Nonnie Odell.

He was raised in Portales. He was a member of University Baptist Church of Portales. He was a mechanic by trade. Family members he had many other talents and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dalton Lee; three sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include a son, Monty Ray Porter (and wife Patti) of Montague, Texas; a brother, Jesse Porter (Mildred) of Portales; two sisters, Maydene Golden (Dowell) of De Soto, Texas and Carolyn Harris (John) of Muleshoe; grandchildren, Lindsey and Robert Aldape, James and Jacob Porter, all of Andrews, Texas, Madisen Porter of Montague, Texas, Christopher and Emily Ross of McChord Air Force Base, Wash.; and a great-granddaughter.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Midland, Texas.
