Mr. Charles “Chuck” Auston Sluder, 69, of Texico, a retired car salesman, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1935, in Piney Flats, Tenn., to William and Kathleen Neal Sluder.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the men’s bible class. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Droke; and a stepson, Don Cherry.
Survivors include his wife, Danalee Sluder of the home; children, Brendi Fennimore (and husband, Donnie) of Slaton, Texas, Linda Blank (Chuck) of Las Vegas, Nev., Roxanne Mayfield (Bruce) of Texico and Floyd Cherry of Texico; a daughter-in-law, Kathi Cherry of Denison, Texas; a sister, Evelyn Johnson of Johnson City, Tenn.; four brothers, Bill Sluder of Johnson City, Tenn., Hugh Sluder of Gray, Tenn., and Lewis Sluder and Dwight Sluder, both of Piney Flats, Tenn.; six grandsons and four granddaughters, Michael Parmenter and Matthew Fennimore, both of Slaton, Texas, Nathen and Mackinzi Blank of Las Vegas, Nev., Brian Cherry (Chris) of Clovis, Mikayla and Devanee Cherry and Kyle, Shane and Cherry Mayfield, all of Texico.
Gary Singleterry and the Rev. Steve McElroy will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Hollene Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tommy Sneed, Floyd Steinle, Don Bonner, Jimmy Mace, Bill Read, Tommy Williams and Arno Massey.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the men’s bible class.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
