The Rev. Fred R. Williams, 91, of Dallas, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Williamsburg Village in Desoto, Texas.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1912, in Marlin, Texas, to Sam and Rosie Williams.

He married Lizzie Mae Baker on Feb. 9, 1934. He was a minister for over 55 years, as a missionary in Fort Handcock in the El Paso area, pastoring at Corinth Baptist Church in Alamogordo, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Carlsbad and at St. John’s Baptist Church in Clovis.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Vivan Dickerson and Bobbie Albritton; three brothers, Webster Long, L.B. Williams and T.W. Williams; and a sister, Viola Parks.

He is survived by a son, Charles Brooks of Dallas; a sister, Sally L. Wilborn of El Paso, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Joe Callahan will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Pallbearers are the Rev. Anthony Mahan, the Rev. Billy Asken, the Rev. R. L. Smith Jr., the Rev. B. J. Choice, the Rev. R. Gorham, the Rev. Bryion Phillips, the Rev. B. Cheaver, the Rev. Oliver Hill and the Rev. T. Martin.

Honorary pallbearers are the Rev. W. Holly, Bishop W. Charles Green, the Rev. W. C. Miller, the Rev. R. L. Smith, the Rev. O. C. King, the Rev. A. M. Macky, Deacon Leroy Nance, Deacon Aaron Young, and Deacon David McPherson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the F.R. Williams Scholarship Fund, C/O St. John's Baptist Church, 1215 Gila, Clovis 88101.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Muffley Funeral Home in Clovis.
