Hancock Fabrics to open in near future

The sign is in place for Hancock Fabrics. Now, store managers are working on inventory.

David Gilbert, district manager for Hancock, said the Clovis store located next to Hobby Lobby will open its doors in “three to four weeks.”

The chain has 450 stores nationwide.

Gilbert said the 15,000-square-foot facility will sell apparel, quilting, bridal, drapery and upholstery fabrics as well as yarns, home accessories and more.

Hancock Fabrics is based in Tupelo, Miss.

Many businesses coming to Clovis

Hancock is not the only business under construction in the area around Prince and 21st streets.

North of the Hancock site, future locations of Dollar General, Sprint Freedom Wireless and Express Cash are being built.

Triangle Home Center to have ribbon cutting

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. Friday for the expansion of Triangle Home Center. Located at 2400 N. Prince, the store will also celebrate its 40th anniversary that same day.

Randy Petty, general manager at Triangle, said the store is expanding into the adjacent site formerly occupied by Master’s Books & Gifts. The center is adding hunting and fishing equipment and small kitchen appliances and is planning on opening an outdoor lawn and garden department.

Petty said the store will offer ammunition as well and is waiting on a license from the Bureau of Alchohol, Tobacco and Firearms to sell firearms.

The store, which is also converting 3,000 square feet of former warehouse space, is also expanding each of its traditional product lines — paint, tools, hardware, plumbing and electrical items — by 15 to 20 percent, Petty said.

Pioneer dairy lab spreading to Texas

Pioneer Dairy Laboratory Inc., which has a small lab in Clovis, has announced plans to build a facility in Dimmitt, Texas, which is expected to employ between 30 and 60 people.

Based out of Artesia, Pioneer Dairy has operated a laboratory for the last 10 years to, “test raw milk for health purposes and herd maintenance,” a company press release said.

Dimmitt was chosen as the location for the laboratory because it’s centrally located for the dairies in the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico.

The new Dimmitt facility could be operating by Jan. 1, the press release said.
