Clifton, Belle

Belle L. Clifton, 91, of Los Lunas, died Thursday, April 28, 2004, at Laurel Meadows Nursing Home in Belen.

She was born on April 7, 1913, in Garvin County, Okla., to William and May Ardrey Pittman.

She married E. C. “Slim” Clifton. She moved to Weber City in 1937 then to Portales and Texico where she and her husband owned a dairy and other businesses. She moved to Los Lunas to be close to her daughter in 1986. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard “Dick” Clifton; a great-grandson, Heath Anderson; and a daughter-in-law, Ethelyne Clifton.

Survivors include a son, Hoyt Clifton of Santa Fe; a daughter, Jackie Barlow (and husband, Clyde) of Los Lunas; a sister, Pat Hatcher of Clovis; four grandsons, Sonny, Aaron and Brock Clifton and Scott Barlow; six granddaughters, Debrah Potter, Rhonda Stockton, Colene Fields, Sherry Barlow, Da’Renda Johannsen and Denise Vebersetzig; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

David Johannsen will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery.
