About 9 a.m. Wednesday police responded to Clovis High School where a teacher said she had been collecting money for mothers with children in Iraq and that the money had been stolen out of her desk. A second teacher also reported money missing from her desk.

The teachers estimated the total money stolen to be $85.

A special education teacher called police about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding abuse of a 14-year-old girl. The teacher reported red marks on the girl’s chest and the girl said her mother had burned her. A hospital examination found pelvic lesions.

A check with the Children, Youth and Families Department showed the case had been under investigation for some time. Hospital staff reported the girl was admitted on Thursday.

Police responded about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday to a fight in progress at the 1400 block of Edwards with a group of people using a bat to beat up on one man.

Witnesses disagreed on what happened, and when police spoke to the victim, he said he didn’t remember the beating and that the head injury had clouded his memory. He said he didn’t want police involved and that he “would take care of it.” About 30 minutes later he called back and said he did want to press charges.

Animal control officers called police about 9:20 a.m. Thursday to report $56 worth of cash missing from the petty cash drawer. Officers said they weren’t sure if the money had been stolen or thrown out accidentally.

While executing a search warrant about 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the 500 block of North Maple, police noticed a car driving down the street and recognized that it was normally present at the home being searched.

Officers stopped the car at the corner of Grand and Prince and spoke with a 23-year-old female driver who admitted to staying temporarily at the home. The woman has a suspended Colorado drivers’ license and a search of the car found a pipe with methamphetamine residue. The driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and no drivers’ license.

A junior high principal called police about 3:20 p.m. Thursday reporting that a 13-year-old female student had marijuana in her possession.

The student pulled a bundle of marijuana out of her pocket when asked to do so by officers. Officers arrested her for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and transported her to the juvenile detention facility.

About 11 p.m. Friday, police noticed a man standing outside his car urinating near the corner of Fairway Terrace and Corlington. The man fled but was later found trying to kick down a door on the 3500 block of Corlington.

Police arrested him for indecent exposure and breaking and entering.

Firefighters and police officers responded to a blaze about 1:25 a.m. Friday in a house at the 700 block of East Eighth Street.

Investigators found signs of forced entry to the premises and located a number of burn piles and paint cans. Police recorded the incident as a case of possible arson.

About 1 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1000 block of Reid regarding criminal sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl being touched in inappropriate placed by a 27-year-old male.

The girl’s mother said she had been next door drinking with friends the previous night until her daughter began yelling for her to come home. The mother told police her daughter had been shut up in the bathroom with the man who tried to put his hands down her pants, but her daughter slapped the man and fled the bathroom.
