LaVon B. Mills, 86, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 04, 2004.

She was born on May 30, 1917, in Cedar Hill, Texas, to Eva and John Bailey. The family moved to Dexter in 1924 where she met and married Prentice L. Mills on June 29, 1939. They later moved to Farwell where they raised their family. She was a volunteer for the Farwell Nursing Home, enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and liked to fish when time allowed. After many years in Farwell, the couple moved to Amarillo in October 2001. Family members said her great-granddaughters were the joy of her life. She was a member of Hamlin United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Evelyn Jarnigan and Addlene Towe.

Survivors include her husband, Prentice L. Mills of Amarillo; a sister, Fay Gary of Elephant Butte; a son, Wade Mills (and wife, Drucilla) of Sonoma, Calif.; two daughters, Cheryl Spiewak (Bob) of Batavia, Ill., and Donna Aiello of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Chuck, Tom and Don Spiewak of Batavia, Angie Frank (Phil) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cindy Dockery (Steve) of Amarillo; five great-granddaughters, Heather and Breanna Spiewak, Peyton Frank and Darcy and Abby Dockery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Farwell Nursing Home, Farwell, TX 79325.
