Ruby Myrel Shipley, 83, of Clovis, co-owner of Fred Shipley Furniture, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Snyder, Okla., to Amos and Vera Jasper Louallen.

She married Fred Shipley on March 15, 1936, in Olton, Texas. She moved to Clovis in 1964 from Brownfield, Texas, where she and her husband owned and operated a furniture store. She was co-owner with her husband of several businesses and auto dealerships in Brownfield, Denver City and Tahoka, Texas. She was active in civic organizations and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Bertha Fielder; and a brother, Bud Louallen.

Survivors include a son, Freddy Shipley (and wife, Gail) of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Venita Brooks (Ronnie) of Clovis; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Shane Gray and the Rev. David Swann will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Brooks, Tommy Hayes, Rance, Mark and Steve Shipley, Doyle Harris, Martin Yung, Randy Holder, Floyd Workheiser and John Jefferies.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
