Cles Harold Radcliff, 93, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in Lakewood, Colo.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1910, near Elida, in a half-dugout house on the prairie, to Mary Alberta Barger and Charles Henry Radcliff.

He attended school at Dora and Portales High School. In high school, he was proud to be a star basketball player when Portales won the State Championship by defeating the Amarillo Sandies. He married Ruby Mae Franke in 1932. They first met while attending grade school in Dora. They were in the ranching business near Dora for a few years and then purchased a general mercantile store in Lingo.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Sharon Radcliff; two brothers, Roy and Carl Radcliff; and three sisters, Clara Lambirth, Jenny Baker and Ethel Davis.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Chadwick (and husband, Dave) of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren, Shana Lee, Shannon Chadwick, Sharlene Fairbanks and Kristy, Tracy and Casey Luzar; and four great-grandchildren.
