What do you think of Portales?
“I like it. The people are really friendly here.”
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
“Where nothing goes wrong.”
What is your fondest memory of Portales?
“My favorite memory of Portales, I guess, would be when my brother-in-law (Hugh Frazier) was still alive and was a pastor here.”
Who’s invited to your dinner party and why?
“I guess I would have four or five of my nephews there, especially the one who lives in North Carolina because I haven’t seen him in a while. I guess the President — he’s famous.”
Who are your favorite entertainers?
“John Wayne, Sonny and Cher.”
What is your favorite TV show, past and present?
“Mr. Green Jeans (past) and now, I guess that would be Third Watch. It’s about firefighters and paramedics and police officers in New York.”
What’s so great about your favorite sport?
“Football. I just like watching it, especially the high school.”
What do you envision your life being like in 10 years?
“Hopefully I have enough money to own my own McDonald’s.”
What is your greatest fear?
“My greatest fear, I guess, being in a tornado. I’ve never been in a tornado.”
What is your greatest hope?
“Peace in the world.”
What is your favorite smell?
“Chocolate.”
What would you like printed on your gravestone?
“I don’t know, I’m going to be cremated. I guess, ‘No. 1 Ram fan.’”
What’s your theme song?
“The (Portales) High School fight song.”
What is your favorite taste?
“Also chocolate.”
What do you like best about your jobs?
“I like McDonald’s. I’ve been there 10 years. I like John Snoberger, he’s a good man. I like working at the rec center. I love the kids and they love me.”
Tell us about your parents:
“My dad was a Baptist preacher in California, Alaska and then Hawaii. My mom, she had a business where you could rent rooms from her. She would lease rooms from different hotels and rent it out for her own business. Most of the people she would rent out to were filmmakers. She rented out to the people who directed Charlie’s Angels and Vegas and Heart to Heart.”
If you could do one thing and money were no object, what would you do?
“I would have the (Little League) baseball fields closed in, so if it rained they could still play.”
Who is your hero and why?
“My hero would be General Patton. He was one of the best generals in World War II and that’s the war my dad fought in.”
