Mr. W.H. “Bill” Snyder, 97, of Clovis, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1907, in Bentonville, Ark., to George N. and Mattie A. Brown Snyder.

He moved to Clovis in 1928 with his family and worked six years for the Santa Fe Railroad. He married Lou Coplen on Sept. 17, 1944, in Clovis. He owned and operated Snyder Furniture & Appliances for 26 years. Family members said he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Clovis Masonic Lodge #40 A.F.&A.M. where he attained the high honor of being a Scottish Rite Mason for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Snyder (and wife, Charlotte) of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Linda Stroup (R.J.) of Lake Kiowa, Texas and Londa Hargett (Emil) of Rio Rancho; four grandchildren, Hal and Steve Snyder and Trey and Noel Hargett; and a brother, Gene Snyder of California.

The Rev. Jon Forrest will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers are Gene Jameson, Allen Carter, Jim Claiborne, Derral Davis, Steve Snyder and Trey Hargett.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Melton, Bill Wallace, Bill Rawley, Charley Elswick, Lonnie Leslie, Ned Wright, Phillip George, Tony Epps and his coffee drinking buddies.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
