Helen B. Reed, age 61, of Puerto De Luna, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2004, at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa.

She was born on Nov. 5, 1942, in Pastura, to Benito and Pablita Via Campos.

She was raised and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Family members said she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, arts and crafts, playing softball with her daughters and skinning rattlesnakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Eddie U. Chavez; a grandson, Pedro Baca Jr.; three brothers, Alfonso, Benito and Andy Campos; two sisters, Mary Medoza and Ida Segura; a son-in-law, Anthony Porter; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Reed.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Reed; six daughters, Tina Zamora (and husband, Larry) of Clovis, Rose Porter of Deming, Rebecca Anaya (Anthony) of Edgewood, Pauline Gutierrez (Frank) of Santa Rosa, Tonie Higgins of Bristol, Texas, and Maria Delgado (Joey) of Santa Rosa; two stepsons, Kevin Reed (Kathy), Scott Reed (Jenny), all of Iowa, La.; two brothers, Carlos Campos (Paula) of Hobbs and Jim Campos (Rose) of Gilroy, Calif.; three sisters, Rita Herrera (Jose) of San Jose, Calif., Rosie Martinez (Tommy) of Azusa, Calif., Nora Silva (Richard) of Fresno, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Margie Henderson of Georgia; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place.

Father Nick Nichols officiated the services.

Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.

Arrangements were by Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
