LaVeda Nieves Cantagallo, 70, of Hesperia, Calif., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Hesperia.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1923, in Clovis to Gabriel and Isabel Elias Nieves.
She was a graduate of Clovis High School. In 1942 she moved to Denver, then later moved to Los Angeles, where she worked with the Orpheum Theater. She married James Vincent Cantagallo on Nov. 29, 1951, Las Vegas, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rachel Nieves and Consuelo Sparks; and two brothers, Gabriel and Reuben Nieves.
Survivors include three children, Brandon James Cantagallo, Cynthia Isabelle Villrock and Gina Suzanne Bellot; six grandchildren, Lisa Cantagallo, Brandi Lea and Jeremy Villrock and Caleb, Joel and Gideon Bellot; two great-grandchildren, Chandler and Preston Villrock; two brothers, Benjamin Nieves of Clovis and the Rev. Jon Nieves of Lakewood, Colo.; and three sisters, Sallye Chamberlain, Sara Powers and Esther Gallegos, all of California.
