82nd Airborne holds reunion
Reporter's Notebook
The 82nd Airborne Division Association, which represents all airborne soldiers including those who trained to fly gliders at the old Fort Sumner Army Air Base and the Clovis Army Air Base, is holding its 58th annual convention from Aug. 18-24 in Reno, Nev.
“I always try to attend the Airborne convention; it’s a lot of fun,” said Albuquerque’s Roger Knight, a retired colonel and Vietnam veteran who is New Mexico’s chapter chairman. “I always encourage people to come for the camaraderie, to tell their stories and see old friends.”
Knight said the New Mexico chapter will sponsor its annual picnic on Feb. 29 in Albuquerque.
