Mrs. Louise Morris, 82, of Roswell, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at her home.

She was born on July 3, 1921, in Erath County, Texas, to W.M. and Ola Hogg Deatherage.

Her family moved to Lamesa, Texas by wagon when she was a baby. After the death of her mother, Louise was cared for by her older sister. She married Leo Morris on April 27, 1942. In 1943 she and her husband moved to Elida and in 1950 they bought a farm at Red Lake. Family members said she was a devoted wife and homemaker and a talented seamstress. She was active in the Elida Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Dora Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Naaman and R.J. Deatherage; four sisters, Eva Gay Brower, Iva Bostick, Lavada Deatherage and Velma Whitehead; and by her husband.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Morris (and wife, Shirley) of Alamogordo; three grandchildren, Gary Morris of Lake Arthur, Melinda Robson of Hagerman and Trisha Trollinger of Clovis; six great-grandchildren, Krysta and Stasha Morris of Lake Arthur, Lauren and Ian Robson of Hagarman and Treyla and Tatum Trollinger of Clovis; a brother, Frank Deatherage of Lamesa, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Marie Roberson of Portales.

Stanley Newton and Johnny Lieb will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Elida Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Randy, Damon and Johnny Lieb, Harding Burris, Joe Gammill, Mickey Burkett, Covey Wall, Joe Claude Moore, Martin Flores and L.D. Hays.
