Irene Mincher, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.

She was born July 8, 1919, in Cowden Community, Okla., to Vertie and Ephriam Megli.

As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Foss Community in Oklahoma, where she met and married William “Bill” Mincher on April 16, 1938. To this union were born two children, Gay Ann and Gary. She was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Thurman, Lawrence, Harvey, and Archie Megli; a sister, Ruth Hamilton; and her husband, Bill Mincher, who died in April 1984.

Survivors include a son, Gary Lynn (and wife Nona) Mincher of Salisbury, N.C.; a daughter, Gay (Wayne) Madsen of Portales; five grandchildren, Christy (Matt) Turnbough of Portales, Jennifer (Greg) Gaddy of Omaha, Neb., Megan (First Lt. John) Gallagher of Okinawa, Japan, and Joshua and Michael Mincher of Salisbury; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Gaddy of Omaha and Grace Gallagher of Okinawa; two brothers, Loyd Megli of Custer, Okla., and Bill Megli of Augusta, Kan.; and a sister, Mabel Winters of Augusta.

The Rev. Garlan Hughes will officiate at the grtaveside service.

Matt Turnbough, Wayne Madsen, Rick Kennedy, Charlie Seales, Gene Lee and Harry Winters will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are all family members and friends.
