By the newspapers in Clovis and Albuquerque, it seems cloud-seeding companies were at a water conference in Santa Fe last week trying to sell their phony scam.

The news articles stated that “millions have been spent on these programs.”

What the articles don’t say is that these millions come primarily from the taxpayers. Isn’t it ironic that taxpayers are paying, not voluntarily, for these crazy schemes, which benefit only the cloud-seeding companies and put the public at risk from even more toxic contamination of our air by people who only have their profits in mind?

There is no viable evidence these crazy attempts to change nature actually produce the benefits claimed: more rain or snow for the immediate area.

If by some remote chance these silver iodide seedings cause more precipitation for an area, what does this take from other areas and how does this upset the natural patterns?

Isn’t it bad enough people have to inhale all of the pesticides that are sprayed into the air we breathe by aerial spraying companies — once again just for the benefit of a few?

Police should focus on real crimes

On my way home from work on South Prince recently, I was pulled over by a state police officer for a cracked windshield and I received a ticket.

It makes me feel warm all over to know that we have officers taking care of us.

And this one is not alone.

My husband and I have also been stopped for a broken taillight and — the best one yet — yielding where you are not supposed to yield.

I have been driving for over 40 years now. I have never had an accident and I have never been arrested.

I guess what I am trying to say is, “You criminals out there don’t need to worry. As long as the police pick on us law-abiding citizens, they will leave you alone!”

The answers are in the Scripture

In reference to the forum related to homosexuality sponsored by the Llano Estacado Community Organization, I would like to remind everyone in our community of what the Holy Spirit told us in the Scriptures through the writings of Jude.

Jude 1:1-4 says: “Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."

According to Holman’s Bible Dictionary, the “lasciviousness” means “Unbridled sexual urges.”

In reference to the statement by one that she has found freedom at the Llano Estacado Community Organization, I would like to remind everyone what the Holy Spirit said to us in Proverbs 14:12,

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Homosexuality does not change humanity

In my humble opinion, one is born a homosexual and is predisposed to that lifestyle.

I was born left-handed. I did not choose to be left-handed. I recall in the 1930s being left-handed amounted to being sort of crazy, dumb and not being normal.

My parents promised me a bicycle if I would practice writing right-handed, which I did for a long time. However I never changed, and I never received that bike.

I knew I was different, but did not quiet understand what was wrong. Later in life I learned that I was ambidextrous and it became an advantage.

What have I learned by my left-handed experience? It taught me that I was not normal, but that people have come to accept my abnormality as a quirk in nature, and as long as I did not bother anyone else they left me alone.

Why don’t we treat homosexuals the same way? Americans have some inalienable rights and their sexual preference has little to no bearing on those rights. Let them have civil unions as we have marriage rights.

Homosexuals are only different as to their sexual orientation: they love, hate, feel, cry and bleed just like we that are heterosexual.

To say that being homosexual is normal is being disingenuous; however, no matter their sexuality, they are our fellow human beings and as such they all deserve their pursuit of happiness.

Let’s all be more tolerant, understanding, and more generous in our beliefs.
