Police Blotter 1/17

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

After noticing a vehicle approaching the corner of Prince and 14th at a high rate of speed, police clocked it by radar as traveling 45 mph in a 35 mph zone before it turned in to the parking lot of a bar, at which time the driver left the vehicle and entered the bar.

The driver admitted to drinking three beers, failed initial field sobriety tests and refused to complete the testing, and then refused to take blood or breath alcohol tests without first talking to his attorney. Police arrested him on charges of speeding, open container of alcohol, and aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Two vehicles sustained moderate damage in a crash about 11 a.m. Monday at the corner of 21st and Ross.

The owner of a 1987 Dodge van said she was pulling out of a business to go south on Ross, did not see a car eastbound on 21st until it was too late, and her van was hit in the passenger side by the oncoming car.

The van owner was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of back pain, and later cited for failure to yield.
