It’s now year 2004. Time sure seems to fly as I get older. To think, the infamous date of Sept. 11, 2001, is now years behind us, and yet it still feels like yesterday. I don’t believe that date is too far back in anyone’s mind — probably won’t be for a very long time.

is a Web site dedicated to saving the personal recollections of the event by anyone willing to submit them. One did not have to be directly affected by the incident to become a contributor — visit the Web site and you’ll see what I mean. In fact, my submission is among the archives. Simply click on the “Stories” link, and then in the “Search Stories” box type “difrancesca” and hit “Go.”
The site contains much more than just stories. There are links to moving images, still photos, audio segments and documents all related to 9/11.

Miss Susie Q. and I decided to start 2004 off with a road trip. Also, the enticement to be able to see a little bit of snow was of some encouragement. Actually, we are making the trip to Colorado Springs so that we can attend a reception for Christian writers hosted by the Christian Writer’s Guild. Their Web site address is

While in Colorado Springs, Susie and I plan on visiting Garden of the Gods State Park, mostly due to much encouragement by our friend Val Schriefer. After visiting the park Web site at
I can appreciate Val’s enthusiasm and prodding. The park and facilities look quite impressive, and we are very much looking forward to visiting it.
In fact, if you are reading this column on Sunday morning we will be at the park around the same time frame that your eyes are seeing these words. Pretty weird huh?

We plan to be back in Clovis on Monday night. Of course, I lived up to the title that my wife has given me of “Mr. Efficient,” by going to
and plotting out our entire trip. I even printed out the directions from the motel to the reception, the park, and then to the Focus on the Family facilities. If we get lost, it will have to be the folks at Mapquest who are at fault, not me.
