New Year brings about 'Super Blitz'

Cops and Courts 12/28

The Clovis police department is part of the national “You drink, you drive, you lose” crackdown on drunk driving. Clovis police will conduct DWI “Super Blitz” checkpoints until Jan. 4, with the goals of educating drivers, checking for seat belt use and drunk drivers.

According to a department press release, last year 449 people were killed in traffic-related crashes in New Mexico, half of which were alcohol related. Data released by the Department of Transportation show that the rate was lower through the month of November.
